Hi all! What a great site this is!
So a bit about me...I'm Louise and live in South Wales, I have 3 grown up daughters and a grandson and grandaughter who are both 2 1/2-ish. Single, work in training and education, have too many pets to mention.
I regularly visit Barry Island with the family and have seen that place change far too much over the years. As a child I often spent the day in Butlins as a day visitor but only had holidays in Minehead...I believe I once came second in a Picture of Health comp and will be rummaging through my Mum's photo's to find the picture I had taken.
I joined this site after trying to explain how the Island used to look when I was a child, to my middle daughter...went on a google search and found loads of fab photo's and a link to here. She was amazed to see Butlins as it was and the amount of people who visited...a far cry to how it is now! It has picked up in popularity recently due to Gavin and Stacey being filmed there but the fair is a complete eyesore and the shops are generally quite run down. Such a shame as I used to love my days out there as a child!
